The Adrienne Shelly Foundation has a mission of supporting women filmmakers. Founded in January 2007, ASF provides grants, scholarships, finishing funds and living stipends through such prestigious academic and filmmaking institutions as Sundance Institute, American Film Institute, Columbia University, NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, IFP, Nantucket Film Festival and Women in Film. Cynthia Wade, one of the seven grant recipients last year, won an Academy Award in February 2008 for Best Documentary Short Subject for “Freeheld,” a film ASF helped fund.
